Job Overview
The successful candidate will bring a psychologically informed perspective to the ward and generic work, liaising closely with the multidisciplinary team. They will meet with service users, under the supervision of senior staff, to devise and implement effective individualized programmes of support on the ward. This will involve formulating, implementing, and reviewing person-centred care plans, including the psychological treatment and management of service users' problems. The assistant will also be responsible for supporting and enhancing the provision of Specialist Psychological Services to clients with complex, severe, and enduring mental health difficulties entering the Acute psychiatric Services in the area. They will reflect on their own practice and clinical cases in the context of the clinical work, actively engaging with supervision and preparing cases and questions for discussion. The assistant will also undertake structured assessment and therapeutic psychological interventions, using their own initiative within guidelines provided by a qualified psychologist. Additionally, they will undertake clinically related administration, audit, and research projects, teaching, and service improvement project work under the professional guidance of a qualified psychologist.

Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will work closely as part of the multidisciplinary team, participating in ward rounds, safety huddles, and ward routines. They will actively support and work with patients through structural engagements such as psychology groups, initial interventions, and short-term, brief 1:1 therapy sessions to aid discharge and link patients into resources in the community. The assistant will also support with the ward environment and help to develop a therapeutic environment and trauma-informed practices.
