About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering complex mechanical engineering projects and leading teams to achieve project goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical engineering solutions for a variety of clients and projects
  • Lead and manage teams of engineers to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to capture requirements and deliver solutions
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and reports
  • Ensure compliance with relevant design codes and regulations
Requirements
  • Degree qualified mechanical engineer (or other relevant qualification)
  • Experience working with design codes typical for the engineering industry (ASME, Eurocodes, BS EN13001, RCC-M etc., HS&E legislation)
  • Experience in requirements capture, including functional, non-functional, stakeholder and regulatory requirements
  • Experience in supervising and overseeing optioneering studies to generate design solutions
  • Experience in overseeing and reviewing mechanical engineering substantiation for new designs or existing plant
  • Experience in writing, reviewing, and approving technical reports and documentation (e.g., design calculations, basis of analysis, safety case reports, design reports)
  • Confident liaising with, presenting to, and influencing stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally
  • Proven track record of leading successful engineering projects with varying team sizes
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in working in a safety-critical and heavily regulated environment
  • Nuclear industry knowledge and safety case appreciation
  • Hazard/fault identification studies (e.g., HAZOP, HAZAN, FMEA)
  • Chartered with a relevant professional institute (or approaching application for registration)
