Principal Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to collaborate closely with our Team Leader and engage directly with clients to understand and address their needs. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and producing reports, specifications, and guidance, as well as overseeing testing and commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and produce reports, specifications, and guidance for clients.
  • Oversee testing and commissioning activities to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Team Leader to understand and address client needs.
  • Conduct MEP building services surveys independently with minimal supervision.
  • Perform detailed peer reviews with a solid knowledge of regulatory and standards documentation.
  • Manage and deliver projects of various sizes and complexities across different RIBA stages.
  • Perform essential calculations, including maximum demands and typical W/m2, applying mechanical theory effectively.
  • Work on projects within existing buildings and perform site inspections and witnessing commissioning activities.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, project managers, managing agents, and contractors.
  • Previous consultancy experience with an appreciation for complementary disciplines such as acoustics, fire engineering, and computer modeling in building design.
  • Lead small to medium-sized projects autonomously and take a brief on larger projects to deliver and control required tasks.
  • Deliver high-quality outputs and have a strong understanding of client needs.
  • Identify when outsourcing is necessary, such as for design or CAD work.
  • Assess and allocate project resources effectively.
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff.
  • Chartered engineer or working towards chartered status.
