Job Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team in London. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical engineering solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and produce reports, specifications, and guidance for mechanical engineering projects.
  • Oversee testing and commissioning activities to ensure compliance with relevant standards and codes.
  • Collaborate with clients and project managers to understand and address their needs.
  • Lead small to medium-sized projects autonomously and take a brief on larger projects to deliver and control required tasks.
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff to ensure their professional development.
Requirements:
  • Strong technical expertise in Mechanical Design Engineering with a comprehensive understanding of Building Services Engineering and interdisciplinary design throughout all project stages.
  • Solid experience with standards and codes relevant to building services.
  • Capable of conducting MEP building services surveys independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in detailed peer reviews, with a solid knowledge of regulatory and standards documentation.
  • Experience managing and delivering projects of various sizes and complexities, across different RIBA stages.
  • Able to perform essential calculations, including maximum demands and typical W/m2, applying mechanical theory effectively.
  • Some experience working on projects within existing buildings.
  • Skilled in site inspections and witnessing commissioning activities.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with clients, project managers, managing agents, and contractors.
  • Previous consultancy experience, with an appreciation for complementary disciplines such as acoustics, fire engineering, and computer modelling in building design.
  • Chartered engineer or working towards chartered status.
