Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Lecturer in Dermatology/Skin Lesion Management to join our team at the University of Hertfordshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, learning, and assessment, including module leadership within our dermatology and/or skin lesion management short courses and programmes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver engaging teaching activities that support student learning
  • Set and mark formative and summative assessments that support student learning while providing constructive student feedback and evaluation
  • Act as a project supervisor commensurate with qualifications
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students as a personal tutor
  • Identify areas where current provision is in need of revision or improvement and design new teaching materials to ensure the curriculum maintains currency, particularly regarding clinical issues
  • Contribute to the planning, design, and development of aims, objectives, and learning outcomes on appropriate programmes
Requirements
  • Substantial proven post-qualifying clinical experience in dermatology and/or skin cancer with evidence of current clinical practice
  • Experience of collaborative working in multidisciplinary settings such as community, hospital, or primary care
  • Experience of public speaking and/or teaching and/or running courses
  • Breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in dermatology and/or skin lesions and skin cancer to develop teaching
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK national guidance in relation to dermatology and/or skin lesions and skin cancer
  • Appreciation and understanding of the educational needs of students, an understanding of students' prior learning experiences, and how these might influence their current educational expectations, cultural awareness, and an ability to contribute to curriculum development
  • Proven ability to disseminate conceptual and complex ideas to a variety of audiences, proficiency in English Language, excellent written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills with ability to create excellent working relationships, and an ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and supportively with both students and academic colleagues
  • Ability to deal with conflicting demands and priorities to meet deadlines, ability to work effectively on your own initiative and as part of a team, excellent organisational and planning skills, and excellent IT skills
  • Ability to act as a responsible team member and develop productive working relationships with other members of staff, be flexible and adaptable to workload and team requirements, possess a commitment to reflective practice with evidence of Continuing Professional Development, and a commitment to issues related to equality, diversity, and inclusion
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Postgraduate qualification i.e., Masters and/or PhD (completed or close to completion, e.g., has submitted final thesis) in Dermatology and/or Skin Lesion Management or significant experience
  • Member of the relevant UK regulatory/professional body (either a doctor or nurse)
