Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Swansea Bay University Health Board as a Healthcare Support Worker. This role involves working as part of a team to provide support to patients in receipt of secondary care mental health services.

Main Duties

The post holder will be required to assist individuals to achieve and maintain optimum levels of independence by providing support, choice, and dignity in their daily living. This will involve assessment, implementation, and evaluation of agreed plans of care.

The role will also involve supporting qualified staff in facilitating clinics, such as Clozapine, Lithium, ADHD, and physical health monitoring clinics. This will include taking observations and monitoring medication side effects.

Person Specification
  • Minimum of QCF Level 3 (formerly NVQ Level 3) in Health or willingness to complete in an agreed timeframe
  • Evidence of attendance at courses/study days pertinent to the speciality
  • Evidence of competence assessment in administration of Buccal Midazolam
Knowledge and Skills
  • Evidence of maintaining personal development
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the scope of the role in the context of the nursing team
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals aspects of care and the importance of promoting health and wellbeing
Experience
  • Significant experience of working as a Healthcare Assistant
  • Previous relevant experience in the speciality
