Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Chargehand to lead our team of warehouse operatives at our busy ambient and freezer warehouse in Newton Abbot. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the warehouse, including daily picks, stock replenishment, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring that daily tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Assist with the picking and loading of goods for next day deliveries, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Conduct daily stock replenishment and ensure good stock rotation at all times.
  • Carry out periodic stock takes and cyclical counts to maintain accurate inventory levels.
  • Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping, ensuring a safe and clean working environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience working within a warehouse environment, with a proven track record of leading and managing teams.
  • Possession of a forklift licence, although training can be provided.
  • Physical fitness, due to the nature of the role, which includes heavy lifting.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Ability to work flexibly and undertake tasks not necessarily assigned to the role, to enhance your skillset.
