MEP Design and Construction Manager Job Description

Criterion Hospitality is seeking an exceptional MEP Design and Construction Manager to join our team in London's West End. As a key member of our construction division, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective, cost-efficient, and robust design and installation of mechanical, electrical, and plant in construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To oversee the design phase, ensuring that installations are optimized for performance, longevity, ease of maintenance, and cost efficiency.
  2. To advise on procurement approach, recommending appropriate contractors and procurement methodologies.
  3. To lead on product specification, ensuring the optimum balance of cost efficiency, robustness, performance, costs in use, and service.
  4. To work with the MEP Quality Manager to oversee the commissioning process, ensuring that all systems are functional and reliable.
  5. To ensure that all necessary information is provided and compiled for the O&M manual.
  6. To maintain effective relationships to ensure the successful delivery of projects with all relevant stakeholders.

Requirements:

  1. A demonstrable expert understanding of MEP design, construction processes, and technology.
  2. A proven track record of helping to deliver complex projects at pace.
  3. An excellent understanding of relevant legislation, including building regulations, H&S, CDM, etc.
  4. A 'can-do' attitude with a willingness to challenge conventional thinking, a pro-active, positive thinking, commercially minded approach with the ability to work at pace.
  5. Thorough, with attention to detail.
  6. Analytical thinking skills.
  7. Strong commercial awareness.
  8. Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  9. A minimum of 5 years' experience in MEP design management.
  10. Qualified to BSc level in mechanical or electrical engineering or extensive demonstrable experience.
