About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family & Volunteer Support Worker to join our team at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Family & Volunteer Support Service, you will play a vital role in improving the overall social visitor experience of our hospital, enhancing the lives of our patients by providing a Volunteer Visitors service that brings the outside in.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the centralised social visitor booking services for onsite and virtual visits, overnight accommodation, and social visitor event days.
- Take on In-Charge responsibilities for social visitors and child onsite visits, often being the sole member of staff on those visits.
- Ensure the Social Visitors overnight accommodation and the Child Visiting Suite run smoothly and in accordance with procedure and risk assessments.
- Utilize competent administrative skills, including the use of databases.
- Assist in organizing Social Visitor information, Social Visitor events days, and Volunteer training days.
- Support Ward Carer Links as part of the Triangle of Care agenda.
- Assist in the recruitment and induction and ongoing training/support of volunteer visitors.
- Be willing to undergo training in accordance with the role, including the full PMVA (Positive Management of Violence and Aggression), search training, observation skills, child contact training, etc.

- Essential:
- IT-related qualification
- Higher/A-level English
- Health/social care/childcare qualification
- Desirable:
- Second language or British Sign Language (BSL) (or willingness to learn)
- Counselling or therapy-related qualification
- Training/teaching qualification

Experience:

- Working experience of databases and data inputting
- Experience of training or education others
- Previous work experience in mental health
- Experience working with vulnerable adults or children
- Experience working in a mental health setting

- Previous work or life experience with volunteers
- Previous work or life experience with carers
- Previous work or volunteer experience with children
- Training and presenting experience
Knowledge:
- Essential:
- Knowledge of mental health and its impact on families
- Knowledge of diversity, diverse cultures, and minority groups
- Desirable:
- Knowledge of the Triangle of Care initiative
- Knowledge of national guidance and legislation underpinning volunteers/carers and safeguarding
- Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
Working Hours:
This role requires a significant expectation of weekend working, with at least two full weekends per month. Hours per shift are normally worked flexibly between 8am-5pm, although occasional out-of-hours working may be required.
Eligibility for Sponsorship:
Please note that this post does not meet the skill level required for a Skilled Worker visa. Applicants requiring a Skilled Worker visa will usually need to be in a role that is at Band 3 or above. This role is not eligible for sponsorship.
