About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Learning Support Officer to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a Learning Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a secondary school setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide targeted support to students with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
  • Oversee and support the SENCO team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality interventions.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) in collaboration with the SENCO.
  • Liaise with parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure effective communication and the provision of necessary resources.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of pupils with SEND, adjusting strategies as needed to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Ensure compliance with SEND legislation and school policies.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working in a similar role, supporting children with SEND in a school setting (secondary level preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
  • Experience overseeing or leading a team of SEND professionals or working closely with a SENCO team.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and external agencies.
  • A passion for education and a commitment to helping every child succeed.
  • Enhanced DBS check and on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
Desirable Qualifications
  • SENCO qualification or HLTA qualifications.
  • Experience working with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
