About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Officer to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a vibrant secondary school in Liverpool.

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that pupils with SEND have the tailored support they need to thrive in an inclusive learning environment. This is a key leadership role where you will work closely with the school's SENCO and other staff members to implement and manage SEND strategies, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Targeted Support: Provide targeted support to students with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
  • Oversee SENCO Team: Oversee and support the SENCO team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality interventions.
  • Develop IEPs and EHCPs: Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) in collaboration with the SENCO.
  • Liaise with Stakeholders: Liaise with parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure effective communication and the provision of necessary resources.
  • Monitor Progress: Monitor and evaluate the progress of pupils with SEND, adjusting strategies as needed to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with SEND legislation and school policies.
  • Promote Inclusivity: Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Requirements
  • Experience in SEND: Previous experience working in a similar role, supporting children with SEND in a school setting (secondary level preferred).
  • SEND Knowledge: Strong knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
  • Leadership Experience: Experience overseeing or leading a team of SEND professionals or working closely with a SENCO team.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and external agencies.
  • Passion for Education: A passion for education and a commitment to helping every child succeed.
  • DBS Check: Enhanced DBS check and on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
Desirable Qualifications
  • SENCO Qualification: SENCO qualification or HLTA qualifications.
  • EHCP Experience: Experience working with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
