About the Role

RPS is seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Education Group at either our Birmingham or Manchester office. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance.

About the Design Business

RPS Design Division delivers projects across various sectors, including residential housing, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, advanced manufacturing, data centres, and energy. Our team strives to achieve a balance between form and function, considering sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. We leverage digitalisation to enhance our delivery model, providing clients and stakeholders with immersive design experiences from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and lead education projects
  • Collaborate with the Education Lead
  • Lead a team of engineers, energy modellers, and BIM technicians to deliver projects from concept design to RIBA Stage 3 draft Contractor Proposal stages
  • Manage projects through the Final Contractor Proposal stage and oversee construction stages
  • Develop and refine design and modelling processes, ensuring alignment with DfE requirements
Requirements
  • Experience in client engagement through the CEM process and fast-track project pace
  • Proven ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously
