Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Knowledge Engineer to join our Data & Semantic Technologies team. As a Knowledge Engineer, you will design and build the highly scalable and flexible data fabric essential for realizing Causaly's vision. You will work closely with domain experts to link domain semantics with engineering, model data and knowledge, analyze and explore data, and develop production-grade software for processing, cleaning, and integrating data and knowledge resources.

Key Responsibilities

- Work on exciting business problems requiring the creation, integration, maintenance, and management of data and knowledge resources
- Link domain semantics with engineering, working closely with domain experts on topics like knowledge representation and integration
- Collaborate with other engineers on production data pipelines, focusing on data modeling, algorithms, statistics, and analytics for quality assessment and refinement, document lifecycles, and semantics for search
- Contribute to driving our semantics agenda, particularly along the lines of ontology management, semantics for GenAI, and our knowledge graph
- Explore, develop, and debug in the context of rapid PoCs
- Adopt data extractions with the help of LLMs in our pipelines, in collaboration with NLP and ML engineers

Requirements

- Proven experience in data and/or knowledge engineering roles with hands-on contributions to modeling, managing, analyzing, and integrating data
- Strong engineering background enabling rapid progression from ideation to production code
- Proficiency in Python and Git
- Ability to debug and test code output, happy to participate in running and improving existing processes
- Knowledge of or interest in the biomedical domain
- Strong technical communication skills
- A product and user-centric mindset
- Proven problem-solving and project execution skills, sense of ownership, organizational skills, high attention to detail, and quality

Preferred Qualifications

- Industry experience
- Experience with modern software development practices (testing, version control, documentation, software design patterns, etc.)
- Knowledge of database query design and optimization
- Familiarity with graph and semantic technologies (Neo4j, RDF, OWL, SPARQL)
- Experience with biomedical ontologies design and integration
- Experience with cloud infrastructures (GCP preferred)
