About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Commis Chef to join our team at DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh City Centre. As a key member of our kitchen brigade, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and cooking of high-quality dishes, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, and supporting the Executive Head Chef in maintaining inventory levels and ordering supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of high-quality dishes in accordance with RBH recipes and standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workstations, ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Learn and master basic culinary techniques under the guidance of senior kitchen team.
  • Support the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, and Head Chef in maintaining inventory levels and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Follow instructions and complete tasks assigned by senior kitchen staff in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Follow proper food handling procedures, including temperature monitoring, labeling, and storage, to ensure food safety and prevent contamination.
Requirements
  • The ability to adhere to the company's rules and regulations on policies and procedures relating to fire, hygiene, health & safety, and licensing regulations.
  • The ability to manage various sections of the kitchen, while ensuring health & safety standards are met.
  • To be flexible in your approach, and able to assist the Sous Chef and any other members of the kitchen brigade when required.
  • A team player who thrives in the hustle and bustle of a busy kitchen department.
  • Someone who is passionate about food and willing to learn.
  • An understanding of quality control and kitchen standards.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
