Income Protection Claims Assessor

Due to continued growth, our client, a leading UK insurance company, is seeking an experienced Income Protection Claims Assessor to join their team. Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage claims where customer complaints or technical issues have been raised regarding outcomes.
  • Take ownership of appeals and complaints, ensuring they are handled fairly, compliantly, and transparently.
  • Analyse claims files to ensure assessments are fair, requesting further evidence where necessary.
  • Handle customer communication throughout the claims process.
  • Liaise with internal and external sources to secure necessary information for effective claims assessment.
  • Use technical expertise, medical knowledge, and logical reasoning to confirm or modify claims decisions.
  • Identify potentially fraudulent claims and raise concerns with the management team.
  • Support less experienced colleagues with training and development.
  • Handle complex and contentious claims involving fraud or potential litigation.
  • Contribute to process and procedural improvements.

Applicants must possess a proven background in Income Protection (or medical) claims, with the ability to logically assess claims to conclusion. Good all-round medical knowledge and a thorough understanding of claims processes and philosophy are essential. Excellent communication skills are required, along with the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and understanding.
