Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and flexible Telecommunications Assistant to join our team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Switchboard team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of our 24/7/365 switchboard service.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of healthcare terminology, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be required to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and Bank Holidays, and be prepared to undertake further training to develop your skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff
  • Operate the switchboard system to answer and direct calls
  • Act as an intermediary between STH Telephone Engineers for fault reporting purposes
  • Work effectively as part of a team to ensure the smooth operation of the switchboard service
Requirements
  • Educated to GCSE level at Grade D/3 or above in Maths & English or equivalent experience/qualifications
  • Experience working in a role which places emphasis on communication/customer care
  • Understanding of healthcare terminology and the basic structure of a hospital environment
