Looking for a challenging role in the field of engineering? The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Work Based Assessor to join their team in Oxford.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with apprentices in the engineering sector, providing support, guidance, training, and assessment. As a Work Based Assessor, you will be responsible for ensuring that students meet the required standards and achieve their qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and guide students in their progression, ensuring they meet the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for level 3 development competency qualifications.
  • Conduct regular student reviews, adhering to ESFA funding regulations, and provide timely feedback on their progress.
  • Establish strong relationships with employers and ensure that learners' workplace health & safety and welfare are maintained.
  • Monitor students' working environment and actively support their employer in adhering to relevant regulations.
  • Mark students' work in a timely manner, leaving constructive feedback against evidence and checking learner mapping against unit criteria.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high level of electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge gained through extensive industrial experience.
  • An in-depth understanding of engineering apprenticeships and qualification standards.
  • Good understanding and practice of various assessment methods used within an apprenticeship standard.
  • Good understanding of IQA processes and compliance.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
  • Time served engineer with a good understanding of both electrical systems and mechanical engineering.
  • Hold a related engineering qualification to a level 3 standard or above.
  • Functional Skills Level 2 / GCSE's in Maths and English grade C or above.
  • CAVA or equivalent assessor qualifications.
  • IT proficient in Microsoft office suite of software packages including Outlook and TEAMs.
