Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Overnight Safeguarding Officer to join our client's team at Willing Care. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and protection of all pupils during evening and overnight hours, providing a secure environment where they can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safeguarding and Child Protection: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures, acting in accordance with both local and national guidelines. Be vigilant and proactive in identifying safeguarding concerns, responding appropriately and promptly to ensure the safety and well-being of the pupils. Record safeguarding incidents and share vital information swiftly with the appropriate channels to protect those at risk. Maintain a nurturing, safe, and inclusive atmosphere for all pupils, ensuring they feel supported and secure at all times.

• Care and Supervision: Be on-site from 6pm each evening, engaging with pupils in communal areas during key social hours from 6pm to 9:30pm. Provide overnight supervision to ensure the security and welfare of all pupils. Be on-call overnight, responding to any needs or emergencies until at least 8am. Foster positive relationships with pupils, creating a comfortable and approachable presence, and encouraging a sense of trust and openness. Work closely with other staff to ensure consistent and seamless support for the pupils.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a similar safeguarding or residential care role is highly desirable. A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance is essential. Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies - essential to effectively support and protect our pupils. A caring, compassionate, and flexible approach to working with young people, particularly during overnight shifts. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff alike. The ability to stay calm under pressure and respond quickly and efficiently to any overnight incidents or emergencies. Ideally a driver.
