Key Challenges and Opportunities

We are seeking a Technical Capability Developer to join our team at the National Nuclear Laboratory. As a key member of our Waste Management & Decommissioning capability, you will play a critical role in developing innovative characterization and decontamination technology and ideas that can be deployed within radioactive environments.

The successful candidate will have a minimum undergraduate degree in a relevant scientific subject and experience of developing the scope of technical development projects to meet customer requirements. They will also be able to take a lead role in successfully delivering technical development projects and have a demonstrated commitment to achieving high levels of safety and quality.

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a motivated and experienced scientist to join our team and contribute to the delivery of customer-funded research projects. The post holder will work closely with Technical Leads to ensure effective project delivery and will oversee the work of others to develop their skills and abilities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop experimental work programmes in the laboratory to meet agreed objectives.
  • Work alongside Technical Leads to develop project scopes and estimates.
  • Liaise with project managers to ensure effective planning and scheduling of team projects.
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure all enabling activities are planned and delivered effectively.
  • Oversee the work of others and provide coaching to develop their skills and abilities.

Estimated Salary: £58,000 - £68,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
