We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic Clinical Therapist to join our forward-thinking, friendly, and expanding Mental Health Team at HMP Downview, where we provide a wide range of therapies and actively work with partners to provide timely and trauma-informed systems of care.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality group and individual therapies to meet the needs of our diverse population.
  • Contribute to the development and promotion of inclusive and trauma-informed pathways of care.
  • Work effectively in multidisciplinary settings, respecting and integrating a range of opinions and approaches to provide the best outcome.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.

About Us

By joining our Health and Justice Directorate, you will be part of a large department of psychologists and psychological therapists providing mental health and OPD services across London, Surrey, Kent, and Bucks. Our staff are dynamic and welcoming, with opportunities for networking, CPD, and career progression.

We have active research forums and promote our services and work through academic and clinical forums. All staff receive regular supervision and are supported with career aspirations and progression. HMP Downview is easily accessible from London, Kent, Surrey, and Sussex, and all of our sites in Surrey offer free use of onsite leisure facilities and free parking for staff.

Person Specification

  • Doctoral-level training in clinical, counselling, or forensic psychology or its equivalent, accredited by the BPS.
  • HCPC Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Experience working with and delivering psychological therapy to those with a diagnosis of personality disorder and/or a history of self-harm and substance misuse.
  • Experience of delivering brief, primary care, CBT interventions or equivalent.
  • Experience of working effectively in multidisciplinary settings.
  • Experience of teaching and training.
  • Experience of using a trauma-informed approach.
