Main Responsibilities

The Deputy Head Housekeeper will be responsible for managing a team of porters and cleaners to ensure that all service standards are met and maintained. This will involve directly supervising staff, conducting inductions, appraisals, and supervisions, as well as managing annual leave and sickness levels.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring that all staff mandatory and task-specific training is completed, and will work closely with the Facilities Coordinator to achieve this.

Additionally, the Deputy Head Housekeeper will be responsible for managing stock levels for cleaning consumables, linen, and food stock, and will highlight any shortages to the line manager to order.

About the Role

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) involving shift work (7am-3pm and 11am-7pm), weekends, and bank holidays over a rolling rota, which will be paid at an enhanced rate.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in housekeeping, customer service, and rota management, and will be a strong team player with the ability to work independently.

Person Specification

  • NVQ level 3 relevant certificate or relevant experience
  • Experience of moving and handling activities
  • Basic cleaning skills
  • Some knowledge of cleaning chemicals and materials
  • Previous experience of supervising staff
  • Experience of working in a mental health care setting
