About the Role

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Clinical Scientist to join our Nuclear Medicine Physics team. As a Medical Physics Expert, you will play a key role in supporting and developing our Diagnostic Nuclear Medicine and PET services, as well as our expanding Radionuclide Therapy service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and develop Diagnostic Nuclear Medicine and PET services, including the development of imaging protocols
  • Contribute to the group's growing involvement in clinical research, including the evaluation of novel radiopharmaceuticals
  • Provide complex scientific advice and practical radionuclide therapy dosimetry
  • Work with ionising radiation and apply IRMER2017 and IRR2017 in nuclear medicine
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in team meetings and special interest groups
Requirements
  • Honours degree in physics or appropriate subject
  • Masters degree in Medical Physics, Medical Imaging or appropriate subject
  • HCPC Registered Clinical Scientist
  • RPA2000 Certified Medical Physics Expert (MPE) in Nuclear Medicine
  • Experience in diagnostic Nuclear Medicine and PET applications, including the development of imaging protocols
  • Experience in Radionuclide Therapy and Dosimetry
  • Practical experience in Radiation Protection related to NM and PET
  • Experience in QA for SPECT, PET, radionuclide calibrators, intraoperative probes, and gamma counters
