Residential Children's Services Deputy Manager Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team at Headway Adolescent Children's Services. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our residential home and providing a safe and supportive environment for young people in our care.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and lead a team of Team Leaders and Residential Support Workers to provide high-quality childcare and support to young people.
- Work closely with the Children's Home Manager to ensure the home runs efficiently and effectively, and that young people achieve positive outcomes.
- Ensure the needs of young people are met and provide a positive and safe living experience.
- Manage staff rotas, including on-call duties, and ensure that the home is staffed appropriately at all times.
- Monitor and maintain the home's budget, including petty cash and additional funds.
- Comply with company policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection.
- Attend training and present in-house training courses as required.
- Participate in the on-call rota and be available to cover shifts when required.
- Good overall standard of education.
- Working towards or hold a Level Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
- Up-to-date knowledge of child care legislation, children's home regulations, and quality standards.
- Hold a QCF Level qualification or be willing to work towards one.
- Commitment to commence relevant level Diploma within 6 months of appointment and successful completion of probation period, if not already qualified to this level.
- A minimum of 2 years' previous experience of working directly with young people with challenging behaviour.
- Experience of working with outside agencies, other professionals, parents, and families.
- Experience of attending reviews, planning meetings, etc.
- Excellent report writing and numeracy skills.
- Well-organised with excellent administration and IT skills.
- Able to relate to young people with empathy and committed to a high standard of childcare and to achieve the best outcomes for young people in their care.
- Strong motivational, management, and leadership potential. Able to supervise, support, and develop Team Leaders & Residential Support Workers to create a cohesive team.
- On-call payments - £ for weekday (Monday to Friday) and £ for Saturday and Sunday.
