About the Role

We are seeking a talented Associate Data Scientist to join our Universal Credit team, where you will apply your skills and experience to projects that affect millions of UK citizens.

As a key member of our multidisciplinary Agile team, you will work closely with colleagues to understand their requirements and deliver complex analytical projects in a timely manner.

You will be responsible for using data science techniques to identify, analyze, and create solutions for complex problems, and for maintaining essential digital services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply data science techniques to solve problems and improve established processes
  • Work with stakeholders to understand their requirements and deliver complex analytical projects
  • Communicate results to a range of audiences, translating technical concepts into non-technical language where necessary
  • Explore, combine, and transform data from across disparate sources
  • Write code in R, Python, or SQL to develop innovative data-driven solutions

We offer a competitive salary of up to £41,567 per annum, plus a Digital Allowance of up to £2,454 per annum for exceptional candidates.

Requirements
  • Academic background in Data Science, Maths, Statistics, or Computer Science or equivalent Data Science-related experience
  • Hands-on experience using data science to solve problems or improve established processes
  • Stakeholder management skills and experience working with colleagues to understand their requirements and deliver complex analytical projects
  • Ability to communicate results to a range of audiences, translating technical concepts into non-technical language where necessary
  • Understanding of a range of data science techniques and the ability to apply these to practical situations
