Operations Director Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Director to join our team at LER (SG) Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering company objectives in terms of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People (SQCDP) within a defined Business Group.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the site strategy through the Hoshin Kanri (Strategy Deployment) process and ensure its execution in the Business Group.
  • Take ownership of making difficult decisions linked to the Business Group.
  • Hold functional support staff accountable for adhering to business standards and enabling their team to meet their targets.
  • Display activist leadership in Problem Solving using a 'Go to Gemba' approach, with the ambition that 98% of issues can be solved within the Business Group itself.
  • Safety:
    • Exemplify a safety-first mindset ensuring the company Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) framework, standards, and policies are adhered to.
  • Quality:
    • Ensure Cell Leaders and Team Members follow manufacturing methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain product conformance and traceability.
    • Ensure Cell Leaders and Team Members perform component quality checks using calibrated measuring equipment.
  • Cost:
    • Manage the allocated Business Group financial budget.
    • Ensure assets are maintained with a 'brand new forever' mindset through the deployment and adherence to the site Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) system.
    • Provide input to Capex projects.
  • People:
    • Development of first-class Cell Leaders who are readily able to progress to become a future Group Leader or take other roles in the business.
    • Be open, honest, and timely when appraising and managing individuals' performance whilst supporting and coaching the closure of performance gaps.

For this role, we are looking for an individual with an Engineering qualification such as HNC, HND, BEng, or MBA or similar, and ideally with a background in Precision Machining, Aerospace, Automotive, Sub-Contract Manufacturing, or similar.
