Operating two pumped storage power stations in North Wales, our combined peak generating capacity stands at over 2000 MW. As we move towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy future, our power stations play a vital role in delivering energy supplies efficiently. Alongside our generation commitments, we're undertaking a major refurbishment program at both our power stations to ensure they continue to meet the ever-changing demand for electricity.
The Role
We're seeking a skilled Maintenance Supervisor (Planning) to join our Production team. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for overall long and short-term work planning for Dinorwig and Ffestiniog Power Stations. This will involve implementing our business maintenance philosophy and coordinating daily work to meet our targets.
About You
To succeed in this role, you'll hold a minimum of a BTEC Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline. Ideally, you'll have completed formal training in safety, such as IOSH Managing Safety. In addition to formal qualifications and training, you'll need relevant experience and knowledge in the following areas:
- Planning and scheduling of work in a heavy engineering environment
- Proven leadership skills
- Technical knowledge relating to plant maintenance work in a heavy engineering environment
- A comprehensive understanding of manpower planning
- Understanding of power plant operations, engineering, and maintenance
- Knowledge of Environmental, Health, and Safety legislation and its impact on day-to-day operations
- Strong understanding of QEH&S management systems
- Able to carry out Risk Assessments and Method Statements for various work
- Excellent IT skills, including Maintenance Management Systems and MS Project
- The ability to work flexibly and react to unforeseen issues
We're looking for a confident and innovative self-starter with a pragmatic approach to operations, maintenance, and engineering. As part of our team, you'll become part of one of the UK's most dynamic electricity generators.
What You'll Receive in Return
In return for your skills and experience, we offer a competitive salary of between £60k to £67k, depending on your qualifications and background. You'll also receive:

- Company pension scheme with employer's contribution of up to 12%
- Annual holiday allowance of 25 days, plus public holidays
- FHC will support the successful candidate in continued development to meet the requirements above
Location
The role will be based at Dinorwig Power Station, with occasional travel required. As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work on exciting projects and contribute to the success of our organization.
Security Clearance
First Hydro Company operates key infrastructure projects in the UK and will require the successful applicant to undergo national security vetting. We're committed to ensuring the security and integrity of our operations, and we're looking for someone who shares our values and commitment to excellence.
