Procurement Specialist

About the RoleAs a Direct Procurement Specialist, you will provide support to the UK Head of Procurement, who is responsible for supporting seven operating companies within Volution Ventilation UK (VVUK). Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing procurement support to the UK Head of Procurement, ensuring effective sourcing of goods and services within agreed project timescales, meeting associated cost-saving objectives and key stakeholder service levels requirements.
- Driving the use of sustainable materials and packaging for products made in-house and by third-party manufacturers.
- Forecasting, tracking, and reporting of UK cost-saving activity monthly.
- Ensuring all procurement activity aligns with the overall Procurement Strategy and centralized Procurement Policies.
- Building strong working relationships with VVUK site teams through regular site visits and interaction.
- Traveling to key suppliers at short notice to resolve emerging supply problems.
- Participating in supplier Key Process Indicator (KPIP) reviews, ensuring effective service levels and ongoing supplier management of Key Spend categories.
- Researching, identifying, and evaluating prospective suppliers, and carrying out supplier appraisals as required.
- Performing all procurement-related activities, including pre-qualification of suppliers, negotiating supplier product/service terms, conditions, quality of goods, deadlines, expectations, and pricing.
- Managing Purchase Price Variances, maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records, and ensuring effective root cause analysis to mitigate the risk of recurrence.
- Preparing contracts and tender management, ensuring implementation within appropriate timescales.
- Developing strong relationships with business stakeholders and strategic supply partners to improve business relations.
- FOLLOWING AND ENFORCING ALL BUSINESS POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.
- Liaising with key company employees to determine their product and service needs.
- Identifying areas of continuous improvement, driving, and actively participating in departmental projects from conception to completion, actively monitoring and measuring progress, enabling enhanced performance and business excellence.
- Researching and identifying prospective suppliers, evaluating their potential according to key business and Procurement Strategies.
- Effectively monitoring and measuring supplier performance, and resolving issues and concerns by utilizing the Procurement-generated Balanced Scorecard approach.
- Analyzing industry and demand trends and supporting management with the development and implementation of sourcing Procurement Strategies.
- Analyzing, managing, and tracking the various Procurement platforms utilized to mitigate the commercial impact to the business, and optimizing the supply chain, ensuring internal processes and procedures are developed, in conjunction with all stakeholders, where required.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Minimum 3 years of proven work experience as a Procurement Specialist or similar role.
- Good working knowledge of purchasing strategies.
- Sound working knowledge of purchasing systems, processes, and technologies.
- Must be highly numerate and possess excellent analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Already developed good negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Approachable and flexible, able to adjust/flex to all situations and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, ensuring appropriate admin taken care of in a timely manner.
- Proven ability to be self-motivated and be self-sufficient in taking the lead and making proposals and/or decisions.
- Willingness to travel regularly between Southern UK sites on a regular basis.
While not essential, the following skills would be advantageous:
- Ideally have some experience within a multi-site manufacturing environment.
- Procurement experience from the Ventilation/HVAC industry would be an added advantage, but not essential.
- Ideally have some experience of procurement process implementation.
- Ideally have some experience of e-Procurement tools.
- MCIPS background, or similar.
- Knowledge of Epicor is desired, but not essential.
The successful candidate will receive:
- Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
