Your Role
As a key part of our maintenance team, you'll work in a small group, supporting essential maintenance tasks to keep the railway operational. Our Operative community comes from diverse backgrounds, and we're interested in your transferable skills and behaviours. We'll provide the necessary training for you to work safely and competently out on the network.

Key Skills
Our Operatives play a vital role in our maintenance teams. You don't need rail experience, but you must demonstrate how your transferable skills meet the following:

  • Teamwork: our maintenance teams rely on each other, and you'll work closely with the team to deliver safe and efficient work delivery.
  • Proactive Planning: being punctual, having the van and equipment ready, and anticipating the team's needs are essential to keeping our passengers and freight moving.

Essential Criteria
Experience in an environment where safety is crucial
Ability to work shifts, including days, nights, and weekends
A team player
Keen to develop new skills
Good communication skills, both in person and in writing
