Job Description

GE Aviation is seeking a highly skilled Automation Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for preparing, performing, testing, and commissioning marine automation related activities in support of new build, upgrade, and service-related projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engineering Activities: Prepare, plan, test, and commission high and low voltage drive system upgrades, perform routine maintenance tasks, and training across all GE Aviation UK customer base automation systems, both onshore and offshore.
  • Analysis and Troubleshooting: Analyze, diagnose, and repair automation-related software and hardware defects across all automation systems installed across the GE Aviation UK customer base.
  • Documentation and Communication: Write, update, and maintain documentation in line with company procedures and best practices, and provide technical support to both customers and internal GE staff as required.
  • Collaboration and Compliance: Liaise with the engineering department, Fleet Managers, and other GE personnel as required to fulfill the role of Lead Automation Engineer, and comply with both company and customer EHS policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
  • Professional Development: Maintain personal competence by completing all applicable training in line with company requirements, and contribute to and lead an FSE team for various engineering activities as directed by Resource Managers.
Requirements:
  • Education: Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, from a reputable College or University; alternatively, you'll have experience working on large automation systems.
  • Technical Skills: Experience working with PC/PLC equipment, experience and knowledge of PLC programming - ladder diagram and function blocks, experience of work on larger Automation Systems with HMI PCs, understanding of networks/network equipment and communication protocols like Modbus.
  • Personal Qualities: Established record of site work, good communication skills, written and verbal in English, health and safety training, ability to achieve Security Cleared clearance level from UK Security Vetting, willingness to work worldwide and offshore, ability to travel overseas on short notice.
