Job Description

GE Aviation's Power Conversion business is seeking a skilled Automation Field Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for preparing, performing, testing, and commissioning marine automation related activities in support of new build, upgrade, and service-related projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engineering activities - preparing, planning, testing, and commissioning high and low voltage drive system upgrades.
  • Analysing, diagnosing, and repairing automation-related software and hardware defects across all automation systems installed across the GE Aviation UK customer base.
  • Writing, updating, and maintaining documentation in line with company procedures and best practice.
  • Providing technical support to both the customer and internal GE staff as required.
  • Liaising with the engineering department, Fleet Managers, and other GE personnel as required to fulfill the role of Lead Automation Engineer.
  • Complying with both company and customer EHS policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
  • Maintaining personal competence by completing all applicable training in line with company requirements.
  • Contributing to and leading an FSE team for various engineering activities as directed by Resource Managers.
  • Carrying out marine service administrative tasks as directed by the marine service manager.
Requirements:
  • Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, from a reputable College or University; alternatively, you'll have experience working on large automation systems.
  • Experience working with PC/PLC equipment.
  • Experience and knowledge of PLC programming - ladder diagram and function blocks.
  • Experience of work on larger Automation Systems with HMI PCs.
  • Understanding of networks/network equipment and communication protocols like Modbus.
  • Established record of site work.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal in English.
  • Health and Safety training.
  • Must be able to achieve Security Cleared clearance level from UK Security Vetting.
  • Willingness to work worldwide and offshore.
  • Ability to travel overseas on short notice.
