About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Engineer to join our team at Frontline Construction Recruitment. As a key member of our pre-construction department, you will be responsible for providing cost estimates and advice to clients across various sectors.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of construction processes and procedures, with the ability to interpret technical specifications and drawings. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential for this role, as you will work closely with stakeholders to discuss and resolve issues related to project costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site surveys and scoping to determine project costs and feasibility, considering factors such as site conditions and accessibility
  • Estimate costs and conduct cost analysis to identify potential financial risks and opportunities for cost savings, taking into account factors such as material costs and labour requirements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to discuss and resolve issues related to project costs and timelines, ensuring that all parties are informed and aligned
  • Evaluate cost-effectiveness and identify opportunities for cost savings through collaborative working practices, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as necessary
  • Support the development of tender submissions and quotations, ensuring that all necessary documentation is included and that all requirements are met
  • Manage subcontractor enquiries and maintain records of estimated costs and progress, ensuring that all relevant information is up-to-date and accurate
  • Liaise with multiple customer needs within the department, ensuring that all requirements are met and that customers are satisfied with the service provided
  • Organise task delivery collaboratively with team members, prioritising tasks to meet deadlines and ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard
  • Produce pre-construction deliverables and ensure quality and efficient delivery throughout the department, aligning with Frontline Construction Recruitment Core Values and ensuring that they are upheld in all aspects of your work

Requirements and Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Familiarity with multi-trade estimating and construction methods is essential
  • Able to interpret architectural drawings and technical specifications
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and integrate into a team, prioritising tasks to meet deadlines and ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard
  • Good IT ability with an analytical mindset
  • Willingness to adapt to new software and systems

Salary: £55,000 - £75,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
