Job Description:

Fawkes and Reece requires an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage cost control, financial reporting, and contract administration for our housing developments in the North West. The ideal candidate will have expertise in quantity surveying, mixed-tenure schemes, and construction techniques.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Cost Management: Lead the cost control function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Contract Management: Oversee contract administration, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Tender Preparation: Assist in the preparation of tender lists, updating procurement programs, and coordinating tender submissions.
  • Design Information Management: Manage design information packages, distributing them to stakeholders and preparing tender documentation.
  • Construction Cost Analysis: Perform detailed construction cost analysis, analyzing quotations and requesting additional information as required.
  • Site Operations: Collaborate with the Construction Director to assess site staffing levels and build programs, determining preliminary costs.
  • Budget Settlement: Facilitate budget settlement meetings, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Financial Planning: Develop stage payment schedules to facilitate project financing and cash flow management.
  • Pre-Order Procedures: Finalize tender sums and agree stage payment schedules before preparing contract documentation.
  • Subcontractor Engagement: Place subcontractor orders, negotiating contract sums within the approved budget.
  • Variation Order Management: Issue variation orders, providing cost advice on major variations prior to issue.
  • Cost Reconciliation: Verify and reconcile costs from various sources, identifying potential areas of over expenditure.
  • Payment Administration: Arrange and process subcontractor payments, agreeing final accounts with subcontractors.

Requirements:

  • Quantity Surveying Experience: Proven experience in quantity surveying, mixed-tenure schemes, and construction techniques.
  • Viewpoint/4Projects: Proficient in Viewpoint/4Projects (document storage and tender preparation).
  • Microsoft Office Packages: Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, including Microsoft Excel at a proficient level.
  • Procure to Pay/Cost Reporting: Familiarity with procure to pay/cost reporting and document storage systems, such as COINS or Agresso.
