Customs Clerk Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Customs Clerk to join our team at Red Recruit, a leading recruitment agency specializing in freight and shipping. As a Customs Clerk, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth clearance of goods and compliance with customs regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process customs declarations for imports and exports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Manage and maintain accurate documentation, including Bills of Lading and Tariff Headings.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, external organizations, and internal teams to resolve queries and provide estimates.
  • Calculate duty and VAT costs for each consignment and process payments in line with company policy.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in regulations, laws, and customs procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to prepare a complete list of jobs for the day.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in customs declarations, imports, and exports, with knowledge of CDS and Cargowise software systems.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong understanding of customs procedures and requirements.
  • Knowledge of freight forwarding and logistics business operations is advantageous.
