About the Job:

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated SENCO Assistant to join our inclusive school in Brighton. This temporary role offers an exciting opportunity to support the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) in delivering high-quality support for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the SEN team, helping to create a supportive learning environment that enables all students to reach their potential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the SENCO in the management and delivery of SEND provision across the school.
  • Assist in the assessment and identification of students with special educational needs, working closely with teachers and other staff.
  • Help implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other support strategies for students with SEND.
  • Assist in the delivery of interventions aimed at improving students' academic and social development.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure differentiated teaching methods are in place to meet the needs of all students.
  • Support the SENCO in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and school policies related to SEND.
  • Promote an inclusive school ethos where all students feel valued and supported.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in an educational setting.
  • A strong understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and relevant SEND legislation.
  • Empathy and patience, with the ability to manage challenging behaviours and create a supportive learning environment.
  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special educational needs is desirable but not essential.
  • DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check required.
