Job Title: Autism Spectrum Disorder Teacher

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Autism Spectrum Disorder Teacher to join our secondary school community in South Shields. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual to make a significant impact on the lives of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement tailored Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student with Autism Spectrum Disorder, setting specific, measurable goals.
  • Adapt curriculum materials to meet the individual needs of students with varying levels of ability.
  • Implement and monitor individualized behavior management plans.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers, providing updates on progress and strategies to support learning at home.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of student progress and development.
  • Attempt to stay current with best practices in Autism Spectrum Disorder education.
  • Maintain a positive environment within the classroom that encourages student growth.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a secondary school setting.
  • A certification in special education, with a focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder is preferred but not compulsory.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Patience and empathy to effectively support students.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
