We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmology Consultant to join our team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.
Key Responsibilities- Support the provision of General Ophthalmology with a subspecialty interest in Acute eye service or General Ophthalmology or any other subspecialty which complements the department.
- Delivery of outpatient clinics and day case surgery
- Workload includes seeing about 12 patients in Face to Face clinic and 24 patients in Virtual clinic. In theatre if Cataract expected to do about 7 Cases.
- Urgent and Emergency Care duties including out-of-hours on-call schedules will take due account of the provisions of working time regulations and safe working
- On-call duties are currently shared with 8 other colleagues on a 1:8.5 rota, currently assessed as 0.89 PA.
- 1.5 Core Supporting Professional Activities will be offered to the successful candidate for which appropriate objectives will be agreed in accordance with the Trust Framework* and national Terms and Conditions of Service with additional 0.5 PA for extra roles like Lead for service etc

- Awareness of the current UK Healthcare system and the need to develop services in line with current policy

- Wide experience in management of Acute eye patients in outpatients, Lasers and theatre.
- Desirable
- Ophthalmology fellowship or equivalent experience in Acute eye Service or experience in General Ophthalmology.
- Specific educational interests and evidence of educational ideas or project work.
