Job Summary:

The Technical Asset Manager will be responsible for the technical oversight and performance optimization of a portfolio of renewable energy assets (solar and battery storage). This role focuses on the operational efficiency, maintenance, and technological performance of solar, and battery storage projects. The Technical Asset Manager will collaborate with engineering teams, operations staff, and external contractors to ensure the assets achieve their maximum potential in terms of reliability and energy production.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Oversight: Supervise the technical performance of solar, wind, and battery storage assets. Analyse and interpret performance data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement. Ensure all assets are operating within technical specifications and performance standards.
  • Operational Management: Manage and coordinate daily operations and maintenance activities. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure assets are functioning optimally. Oversee the implementation of corrective and preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Performance Optimization: Develop and implement strategies to enhance the efficiency and output of renewable energy assets. Utilize performance monitoring tools and software to track and improve asset performance. Collaborate with engineering teams to upgrade and retrofit existing assets with the latest technologies.
  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide technical support and guidance to on-site teams and contractors. Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including operation manuals and maintenance records.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant technical standards, regulations, and safety protocols. Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate technical and operational risks. Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Prepare and present technical reports and performance summaries to stakeholders. Communicate technical issues and solutions to non-technical stakeholders effectively. Maintain strong relationships with equipment manufacturers, service providers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Project Management: Manage technical projects related to asset enhancement, retrofitting, and new technology integration. Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely and within-budget project completion. Monitor project progress and address any technical challenges that arise.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in technical asset management within the solar, wind, or battery storage sectors.
  • Strong technical knowledge of renewable energy systems, i.e. PV solar panels/battery storage technologies.
  • Proficiency in using performance monitoring and asset management software.
  • Experience with data analysis and performance optimisation techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and safety standards in the renewable energy industry.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
  • Project management experience and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Work Environment:

The role involves a combination of office-based work and frequent on-site visits to facilities. Travel may be required to different asset locations, conferences, and meetings with stakeholders and service providers.
