Accounts Assistant Role

We are seeking a skilled Accounts Assistant to join our team at Worldwide Flight Services. As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our accounting function.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Transaction Processing: Record financial transactions such as invoices, receipts, payments, and expenses into our accounting system.
  2. Accounts Receivable: Manage accounts receivable by issuing invoices, following up on late payments, and reconciling customer accounts.
  3. Accounts Payable: Handle accounts payable tasks including processing vendor invoices, verifying expense reports, and ensuring timely payments to suppliers.
  4. Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements with our financial records to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  5. General Ledger Maintenance: Assist with maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries, updating accounts, and preparing trial balances.
  6. Expense Reporting: Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and accurate recording of expenses.
  7. Financial Reporting Support: Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements by providing accurate and up-to-date financial data.
  8. Assisting with Audits: Provide support during internal or external audits by preparing documentation, retrieving financial records, and addressing auditor inquiries.
  9. Data Entry and Filing: Perform routine data entry tasks and maintain organized filing systems for financial documents and records.
  10. Administrative Support: Provide general administrative assistance to the accounting department, such as answering phones, responding to emails, and scheduling appointments.

Requirements:

  1. A diploma or equivalent training within accounts/finance.
  2. Relevant experience in a similar role with a strong numerical aptitude and proficiency in basic accounting principles.
  3. Intermediate MS Excel knowledge e.g. pivot tables/vlookup/data analysis.
  4. Knowledge of Open Accounts (not essential) or similar mid-range accounting systems / General Ledger.
  5. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  6. Attention to detail.
  7. Organisational skills with the ability to take initiative, explore issues and generate new ideas and processes.
  8. Analytical skills for interpreting financial information and making recommendations based on findings.
  9. Strong team player but also able to work autonomously and prioritise tasks.
