Safety Officer - Fire Risk Management

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service requires an experienced professional to fill the role of a part-time Fire Safety Officer, working 17 hours per week at McDonald Road Fire Station.

  1. Conduct regular audits of premises to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations.
  2. Perform site visits to inspect fire safety measures and strategies.
  3. Identify potential fire hazards and develop recommendations for mitigation and prevention.
  4. Prepare and issue fire safety reports, including statistical analysis.
  5. Provide expert advice on fire safety policies, legislation, and best practices.
  6. Maintain accurate records of daily activities and contribute to the management of fire safety information.
  7. Attend internal and external training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  8. Foster a culture of fairness, equality, and health and safety within the organization.
  9. Meet established performance targets and KPIs.

**Estimated Salary Range:** £25,000-£35,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.

To be successful in this role, applicants must demonstrate:

  • Extensive knowledge of fire safety laws and regulations, including the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and related ordinances.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools for data analysis and presentation.
  • Proven track record of maintaining detailed records and reporting results from technical tasks.

Candidates may benefit from completing relevant courses, such as Fire Safety Enforcement and Legislation, holding certifications in Fire Safety or Health and Safety, or possessing experience in fire safety inspections.

A valid UK driving license and ability to travel are mandatory requirements for this position.
