Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Night Shunter. As a Night Shunter, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely movement of trailers, on and off loading bays, and delivering shunt loads from one location to another, as instructed, in line with Company standards and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To place trailers to the required areas as per instructions and ensure efficient trailer movement.
  • To maintain effective communication with colleagues and other departments using two-way radios and other communication tools.
  • To conduct regular safety checks and report any defects, accidents, or incidents to the relevant authorities.
  • To ensure that trailers are properly secured and maintained, and that all safety protocols are followed.
  • To monitor and maintain the temperature of refrigerated trailers, ensuring that products are stored at the correct temperature.
  • To ensure that diesel tanks are adequately fueled at all times.
  • To maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with colleagues and other stakeholders.
  • To report any breaches in speed limits by drivers and subcontractors to the Transport Department.
  • To maintain the cleanliness and organization of the vehicle parking area and report any issues to the Site Services Team.
  • To ensure that company standards of hygiene and housekeeping are maintained at all times.
  • To work in accordance with Health and Safety legislation and company policies.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with and driving LGVs is desirable.
  • Previous shunting experience is essential.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines.
