Job Description

As a Night Shunter at Stobart, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely movement of trailers, both on and off loading bays. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver shunt loads from one location to another, as instructed, in line with Company standards and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Trailer Placement: Place trailers to the required areas as per instructions, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing delays.
  • Communication: Utilize two-way radios to maintain effective communication with areas of the operation as necessary, ensuring seamless coordination and collaboration.
  • Safety Checks: Conduct all designated safety checks to ensure a safe working environment, adhering to Company protocols and regulations.
  • Incident Reporting: Promptly report any defects, accident damage, or incidents to the relevant authorities, maintaining a culture of transparency and accountability.
  • Temperature Control: Ensure that refrigerated trailers are set at the correct temperature, in line with loaded product temperature requirements, to maintain the integrity of the cargo.
  • Fuel Management: Ensure that fridge diesel tanks have adequate fuel at all times, minimizing downtime and optimizing operational efficiency.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with colleagues, upholding the Company's values and standards.
  • Speed Limit Enforcement: Report any breaches in speed limits by drivers and subcontractors to the Transport Department, promoting a culture of compliance and safety.
  • Site Maintenance: Maintain the vehicle parking area layouts as they should be, reporting any issues of debris to the Site Services Team, ensuring a safe and organized working environment.
  • Hygiene and Housekeeping: Ensure that Company standards of hygiene and housekeeping are maintained at all times, adhering to regulatory requirements and promoting a clean and healthy working environment.
  • Health and Safety: Work in line with Health & Safety legislation, prioritizing the well-being of yourself and your colleagues.
Requirements:
  • Desirable Skills: Working with and driving LGVs is highly desirable, as is previous shunting experience.
  • Teamwork: Experience of working in a fast-paced environment, with strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information effectively.
  • Driving for Excellence: Ability to work to challenging deadlines in a pressurized environment, with a focus on delivering exceptional results.
  • Self-Discipline: Self-disciplined and motivated, with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
