University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our Pathology Phlebotomy team for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will work in a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient environments, and will be expected to be an effective communicator.
Main Duties
The Phlebotomist will be responsible for providing a high-quality phlebotomy and cannulation service, offering the best possible standards of patient care to inpatients and other areas requiring venesection/cannulation services. The role will involve assisting in the provision of individualized care under the supervision of a qualified nurse and other healthcare professionals.

We are looking for a self-motivated and dynamic individual with a passion for taking blood samples while delivering high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for attention to detail, the ability to prioritize their workload, and a willingness to learn new skills.

- Ability to complete all training packages, including Venesection and Cannulation course and ANTT course within 2 months
Desirable
- Experience in providing healthcare
- Experience preferred but not essential, as full in-house training given
- NVQ3, or willing to undertake NVQ training
- Basic Life Support training
- Previous clinical experience in a hospital setting
- Experience in Venesection in an acute setting
- Experience in hospital IT systems
