About the Opportunity


An exciting permanent appointment is available for a Consultant Cardiologist with expertise in Interventional Cardiology to join the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. This role will complement the existing team of 17 full-time Clinical Cardiologists providing high-quality tertiary cardiac services to a population of over 1 million people.


The department offers a comprehensive range of interventional cardiology procedures, and this post will focus on supporting the acute coronary syndrome work stream and primary PCI rota. Opportunities to pursue sub-specialty interests, including TAVI, may also be explored.


You will have access to an excellent Consultant contract for Wales, with a basic salary range of £100,000 - £146,000 per annum. As a member of the team, you will contribute to delivering exceptional patient care while advancing your professional skills.



Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with 6 interventional cardiology colleagues to deliver approximately 1750 coronary interventions and 2500 diagnostic cardiac catheterisations annually.
  • Pursue research and teaching opportunities in collaboration with Cardiff University's School of Medicine.
  • Participate in a 1 in 9 on-call rota for acute interventional cardiology at UHW and a 1 in 17 rota for acute general cardiology.
