Regulatory Compliance Manager

About the Role:
As a Trading Standards Officer with Powys County Council, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Trading Standards Service in providing a full range of its functions, in accordance with objectives, policies, and procedures.
About You:
- You will possess knowledge and experience of the full range of Trading Standards legislation and enforcement, including Food Standards, Feed Hygiene, and Product Safety.
- You will be organized, accurate, and flexible, with strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work independently.
- You may hold an appropriate professional qualification or experience in a related field. You will be adaptable, organized, with an eye for detail, and capable of working under pressure.
- You must be willing to carry out duties at flexible times, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Previous experience in a local authority environment and knowledge of local authority Trading Standards legislation and experience in a statutory/regulatory role are desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake routine inspections and respond to complaints and enquiries relating to Trading Standards activities, and support other officers in the team with this work and their development.
- Provide advice and assistance to businesses, ensuring they comply with relevant regulations.
- Work closely with other Council departments, government agencies, external partners, and members of the public.
- Apply relevant legislation and guidance, and undertake investigations or enforcement as appropriate. Prepare case files for prosecution, attend court hearings as required.
