Clinical Autism Specialist

At Psicon Ltd, we are seeking dedicated professionals to fill a Clinical Autism Specialist position. This role offers a competitive salary of £70,000 per annum.
About the RoleThe Clinical Autism Specialist will be responsible for conducting comprehensive developmental histories using preferred methods/tools to evaluate children undergoing autism assessments. Additionally, they will observe the child/young person during sessions and ensure questions are asked in an age-appropriate and compassionate manner.
- Key responsibilities include reviewing ADOS reports, developmental history, and relevant collateral information from home and school in the same session.
- The specialist will formulate a diagnosis, conclude the assessment, and provide feedback to the family in a kind, age-appropriate, and compassionate manner, including recommendations and signposting to local/national resources.
- They will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) in cases where further information is required, and offer a separate follow-up session to conclude the diagnosis.
- The specialist will produce high-quality, detailed diagnostic reports within 48 hours post-assessment, adhering to DSM-5 criteria and report templates. Admin support for formatting and quality control is provided.
To be successful in this role, applicants must hold a GMC-registered doctor with a valid license to practice. A CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is preferred but not essential. The ideal candidate will have expertise and confidence in autism spectrum disorder ASD and/or ADHD assessments for children and young people.

Regular supervision opportunities enhance your assessment skills, while training programs, including gaining certification for assessments like ADOS-2, are also available.
