Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our team at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in cancer care, developing and implementing interventions aimed at reducing the psychological impact of treatment on patients with Haematological Malignancy. The successful candidate will work closely with the Team Lead to develop these projects and provide support to healthcare clinicians as needed.

The role is full-time, with consideration given to part-time or job share arrangements. This position requires post-graduate doctoral training in clinical or counselling psychology and HCPC registration as a practitioner psychologist.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work across the lifespan, providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups. You will also be expected to develop relationships with Cancer Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) and ward-based clinicians to identify and support individuals affected by cancer.

Main Responsibilities
  • Developing and implementing evidence-based Level 4 psychological support services for individuals, couples, and families affected by cancer.
  • Providing consultation to other professionals and non-professionals to improve psychological screening and support provided by healthcare professionals.
  • Supporting the emotional impact of work on healthcare clinicians where necessary and influencing the treatment environment to support trauma-informed care.
