About the Role

The Gloucestershire County Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Traffic Engineering Programme Manager to join their team. As a key member of the Traffic and Active Travel team, you will be responsible for managing a programme of engineering projects through their life cycle, ensuring successful delivery that offers value for money, safe and sustainable solutions, and achieves targets set.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of project managers and ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with the Council's policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with in-house and external designers and stakeholders to deliver projects that provide outcomes that achieve project and council objectives.
  • Be responsible for programme, risk, and budget management, ensuring the delivery of the programme within time and budget.
  • Play a key role in working with colleagues to bid for funding and develop a sustainable and forward-thinking approach to highway engineering.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in highway and traffic engineering design and project management, with experience working in collaboration with all key stakeholders, contractors, and building and nurturing relationships to ensure seamless communication.

You will also need to have a keen interest in and a commitment to road safety and sustainability, and understand sustainable travel principles and the impact of engineering on environmental issues.
