Millennium Management, a top-tier global hedge fund, is seeking an experienced Fundamental Commodities Modelling Lead to build and maintain in-house analytics and trader support tools.

The successful candidate will be part of the Fixed Income & Commodities Technology (FICT) group, developing pricing libraries for trading in Fixed Income, Commodities, Credit, and FX business. FICT offers a dynamic and fast-paced environment with excellent growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop data science-inspired models for forecasting commodities fundamentals, including power and natural gas demand, production capacities, inventory levels, pipeline congestion, refinery outages, etc.
  • Create both statistical and causal model types, incorporating regressions, time series analysis, and supply-demand balancing models such as power stack models.
  • Oversee and mentor junior fundamentals analysts.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in modelling commodities fundamentals, preferably in areas like European power and gas, US power and gas, global oil, or ags and softs.
  • Intimate knowledge of handling, cleaning, and organizing data, including familiarity with data sources and providers for temperature, load, rainfall, and other related inputs.
  • Practical knowledge of Python and associated tool stacks for data science is essential.
  • Previous experience leading/supervising a team is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of valuation, pricing, and derivatives models is useful but not required.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, based on industry standards and location.
