Crane Engineer Job Description

Our client, a leading manufacturing provider, is seeking a skilled Crane Engineer to join their expanding team. As a Crane Engineer, you will be responsible for the inspection, repair, maintenance, and modernisation of all types of overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment.

The Role
  • Inspect and maintain overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Repair and replace faulty or damaged components, including electrical and mechanical parts.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as lubrication and cleaning, to prevent equipment failure.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and technicians to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure optimal equipment performance.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical engineering.
  • Heavy industrial plant mechanic experience is preferred.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Electrical experience with 3 phase 415vac motors, squirrel cage and wound rotor, contactor control circuits, 110/48-volt relay and contactor circuits, stop and reset circuits, and some frequency speed/inverter control device experience.
  • Mechanical experience with medium to large drive couplings, brakes, and reduction gearboxes.
  • Experience with overhead crane maintenance and inspection routines preferred.
  • Experience with industrial radio control systems.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as per business requirements.
  • Ability to investigate and repair a variety of overhead crane and hoist components in varying customer locations.
  • C1 Driving licence beneficial.
