Wardell Armstrong LLP is a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy with 13 offices across the UK, employing approximately 500 staff. Our team works closely with clients to deliver solutions to challenging problems in various sectors.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Ecologist to join our Leeds office and work alongside our established team. This role involves developing new clients and business opportunities, managing projects, and enhancing the technical capabilities of the team.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and undertake ecological field surveys and analyze survey results.
  • Produce preliminary ecological appraisals, survey reports, licence applications, Ecological Impact Assessments, and other similar documents.
  • Manage projects, including resource allocation, subcontractor management, risk management, quality assurance, and client feedback.
  • Develop emerging workstreams such as Biodiversity Net Gain.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in ecology or a related discipline.
  • Protected species survey licences and experience of protected species Mitigation Licensing.
  • Full understanding of habitat survey and broad knowledge of protected species survey.
  • Experience writing Ecological Impact Assessment reports and understanding of CIEEM methodology.
  • Competent GIS skills, full understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain assessment, and use of typical metric calculators.
  • Experience managing ecology projects to completion.
  • Excellent report writing skills.

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum
